This amazing vintage wrestling tee reps one of the most iconic professional wrestling personalities of the 1990s. The shirt is for “Stone Cold” Steven Austin during his stint in the World Wrestling Federation that began in 1995, and the front says “Blood from a rattlesnake” while the back includes the wrestler’s famous verse Austin 3:16. Steve Austin’s wrestling career began in 1989 when he signed with World Championship Wrestling, but he didn’t reach super stardom until his time with the WWF.

Austin was given the nickname “The Texas Rattlesnake” during his time in the ring. The name was started by his friend and commentator Jim Ross, who likened Austin’s mannerisms and mindset to the venomous reptile. Meanwhile Austin’s iconic catchphrase “Austin 3:16” came from an ad-lib during a match against Jake “The Snake” Roberts. Roberts’s character was portraying a born again Christian at the time of the match, and Austin chose to take a humorous dig at his opponent’s religious persona by making a derisive reference to the popular bible verse John 3:16. During the match Austin uttered the now famous line “Austin 3:16 says I just whooped your ass”, and the quotability of that quick-witted ad-lib solidified Austin’s status as a superstar of 90s professional wrestling.
